OUR MISSION

The Scott Robertson Memorial Junior Golf Academy is the home of The First Tee of Roanoke Valley, a local chapter of the national youth development organization- The First Tee.

The First Tee of Roanoke Valley’s primary mission is to provide young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship.

Congratulations to Roanoke Valley First Tee Eagle participants Parker Davis and Tylor Welch!!

Parker Davis   :

  • Selected out of 189 nationwide applicants to participate in July at the Wal*Mart First Tee Open "participant selection process" at Kansas State University. Parker was one of 52 boys to qualify. The criteria included golf skills, Life skills knowledge, two interviews and a written essay.
  • Played over Labor Day week-end in 2008 Wal*Mart First Tee Open paired with Champions Tour member Joey Sindelar, missed the cut by 1 shot. Parker had an "awsome" time.

Tylor Welch  :

  • Selected out of 189 nationwide applications for participant selection process. Played Colbert Holls Golf Course @ Kansas State University. Tylor did not get to go to Pebble Beach, CA but represented our chapter exceptionally well and learned alot.
  • Tylor  was recently selected from a national pool of First Tee applicants to be one of fifty high school students taking part in the 2008 Future Leaders Forum November 6-9 during the Disney Golf Classic

The First Tee of Roanoke Valley provides programs year round that teach children lessons that lay the foundation needed to meet the many challenges of life.
