TWO FROM ROANOKE SELECTED FOR HANK HANEY ACADEMY IJGA
Drew Board, a 9th grader from Cave Spring High School and Kolton Cooper, a 9th grader from Franklin County High School have both been selected to attend the first ever The First Tee Training Program at Hank Haney IJGA to be held June 1 – 5, 2010 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina! This year 29 finalists from all over the U.S. have been invited to attend The First Tee Training Program at Hank Haney IJGA.
During the five-day stay at the Hank Haney IJGA (which is located at Pinecrest Golf Club in Bluffton, South Carolina), activities will include daily instruction with Hank Haney IJGA instructors and The First Tee Coaches on all aspects of the golf game (full swing, short game, and on course). Board and Cooper will be playing 36 holes of golf at Ballyhack Golf Club on Saturday, May 22. Ballyhack’s Director of Operations, Mr. Jonathan Ireland, is a Board Member at The First Tee and we REALLY appreciate his kindness in allowing the boys to play at such a phenomenal golf course.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Want to see some of the best junior golfers in the nation? Then consider volunteering along with your own junior golfer this weekend at Roanoke Country Club. Volunteers are needed as “spotters” in 3-4 hour shifts. Just bring a lawn chair and you’ll be placed on one of the holes where high rough, trees or water come into play. It’s easy, it’s fun, and you’ll be amazed at the skill of these juniors from all over the USA. Check in at the volunteer table, located by Pro Shop on lower level on Sat. or Sun. from 9-10 a.m. or 1-2 p.m. Mack McClung is the tournament volunteer coordinator; contact him for more information mackroanoke@aol.com.
