July 9, 2010              News from The First Tee of Roanoke Valley
 
Summer is in full swing at The First Tee of Roanoke Valley.  There's still lots of opportunities for outings, clinics and camps - as well as free tickets to the Greenbrier Classic Youth Day .  Details of summer fun below!

More Summer Opportunities to Play!
Following is a schedule of additional play opportunities for participants through the end of summer.  These golf outings and clinics are being offered in addition to the summer class schedule.  Participants must be PLAYer certified or higher to attend PlayDays.  Please call The First Tee (563-1833) to sign up or email Mary Beth McGirr, Director of Programming & Instruction: mbmcgirr@thefirstteeroanokevalley.org
PlayDays: On-course supervised play and instruction at Ole Monterey. There is no charge for First Tee participants. Lighten up your bag & bring water/sports drink.  Yardages will be appropriate for PAR & BIRDIE certification requirements.
"Open Practice" @ The First Tee: Informal supervised practice sessions when our facility is open for any First Tee participants.

Whether you are involved in The First Tee or simply interested in learning more about it, you are invited to attend an exciting day of golf! Polo Golf Lauren, The Greenbrier and The First Tee of Roanoke Valley are proud to present Youth Day at The Greenbrier Classic.
Support the Greenbrier's TOUR event while supporting The First Tee of Roanoke Valley. A unique and exciting day of events has been planned for you and your guests!
All kids and their attending adults get free access throughout the day to all events EXCEPT the Youth Day Brunch.
 
9:30 - 10:30 Youth Day Brunch
Hosted by Jim Justice with special guest appearances and remarks by PGA TOUR officials and professional golfers (to be announced). All proceeds support The First Tee of Roanoke Valley.

11:00 - 1:00 The First Tee Scramble
A four-hole charity skins match in which four teams, each pairing one junior golfer from The First Tee and a PGA TOUR pro, compete for a chance to win $10,000 for their organization. PGA TOUR lineup (subject to change) includes: Davis Love III, Webb Simpson, Jonathan Byrd and a player to be named.  Kolton Cooper, a 14 year old participant from Franklin County will represent The First Tee of Roanoke Valley in this special event.
 
1:30 - 2:30 Youth Day Clinic
PGA TOUR pros will be on the driving range for demonstrations, autographs and individual lessons for youth attendees. Also appearing will be golf trick shot artist Dennis Walters.
 
2:30 - Dusk Observe & Enjoy
Stroll the Old White Course, the practice tee and the driving range at The Greenbrier to watch TOUR Pros fine-tune their game. This could be a great chance to get a few autographs, too!

For those who purchased a weekly badge via The First Tee or The Greenbrier Classic website, please note:  Ground Badges for the inaugural Greenbrier Classic are in the process of being mailed to homes from The Greenbrier.  We appreciate your patience.
