PLAYER

Minimum age 7
Entry level into The First Tee, no matter golf skill level or age. 
The emphasis of the PLAYer level is to introduce playing the game of golf with special emphasis on learning golf and The First Tee Code of Conduct, appreciating the rules and etiquette of the game, and developing a young person’s game in golf and life

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Core Lesson Exposure: 27 hours of exposure (includes classes and practice sessions)
Life Skill Knowledge (Learn): Correctly answered 10/12 written questions
Golf Knowledge (Appreciate): Correctly answered 8/10 written questions
Putting: Complete 9 holes with a maximum score of 36
Short Game: Complete 3 holes with a maximum score of 15
Full Swing (Fairways): Must hit 2 out of 6 fairways

Playing Requirement: One 9-hole round PLAYer must demonstrate they can play fast, safe, and courteous.  They must record their score accurately (Honesty) but no specific score is required

Observable Behaviors
In addition to the certification requirements, coaches look for certain behaviors during classes.  At the PLAYer Level those behaviors are: showing respect, courtesy towards others, responsibility for the course, showing honesty, modeling sportsmanship, developing confidence, using good judgment, playing with perseverance, and living with integrity.

PAR

Recommended minimum age 9
Emphasis on interpersonal communication and self-management skills on and off the course

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Core Lesson Exposure: 36 hours of exposure (includes classes and practice sessions)
Life Skill Knowledge: Correctly answered 15/18 written questions
Golf Knowledge: Correctly answered 12/15 written questions

Putting: Complete 9 holes with a maximum score of 27
Short Game: Complete 3 holes with a maximum score of 12
Full Swing (Fairways): Must hit 3 out of 6 fairways (minimum 70 yds)
Full Swing (Greens): Must hit 3 out of 6 greens from (minimum 35 yds)

Playing Requirement: One 9-hole round PLAYer must demonstrate they can play fast, safe, and courteous.  They must record their score accurately (Honesty) and score under 72 strokes from distance of 1500-1900 yards

BIRDIE

Recommended minimum age 11
Emphasis on setting and achieving goals both on and off the course

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Core Lesson Exposure: 48 hours of exposure (includes classes and practice sessions)
Life Skill Knowledge: Correctly answered 20/24 written questions
Golf Knowledge: Correctly answered 16/20 written questions
Putting: Complete 9 holes with a maximum score of 23
Short Game: Complete 6 holes with a maximum score of 21
Full Swing (Fairways): Must hit 6 out of 12 fairways (minimum 110 yds)
Full Swing (Greens): Must hit 6 out of 12 greens from (minimum 55 yds)

Playing Requirement: FIVE 9-hole round PLAYer must demonstrate they can play fast, safe, and courteous.  They must record their score accurately (Honesty) and score under 63 strokes from distance of 1900-2500 yards

Volunteering: complete 12 Total Hours of Volunteering with The First Tee of Roanoke Valley

EAGLE

Recommended minimum age 13
Emphasis on learning resilience, conflict resolution, and future planning

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Core Lesson Exposure: 60 hours of exposure (includes classes and practice sessions)
Life Skill Knowledge: Correctly answered 25/30 written questions
Golf Knowledge: Correctly answered 20/25 written questions
Playing Requirement: TEN 18-hole round PLAYer must demonstrate they can play fast, safe, and courteous.  They must record their score accurately (Honesty) and score under 108 strokes from distance of 5000-6000 yards
Putting: Complete 9 holes with a maximum score of 18
Short Game: Complete 9 holes with a maximum score of 27
Full Swing (Fairways): Must hit 7 out of 14 fairways (minimum 160 yds)
Full Swing (Greens): Must hit 9 out of 18 greens (minimum 80 yds)
Volunteering: complete 24 Total Hours of Volunteering with The First Tee Roanoke Valley (16 of which included volunteering for certifying class, 8 hours of general volunteering with the chapter)

ACE

Required minimum age 14 or entering 9th grade
At the Ace Level Participants put it all together and hone in on setting goals, career education, and giving back to the community.  Ask Coach Bill for additional information on this very prestigious award!
